a nagging thought…

A friend asked my advice today. I’m not too good at that sort of thing, probably because I’m not too good at taking advice. The question, however, won’t go away; it stuck in my mind like a piece of cellophane sticks to your fingertip – you try & try, but can’t shake it loose. My friend was doing some career soul searching, trying to measure past & present effectiveness while looking down the road ahead. Then came that question: “How do I know when it’s time to go in a different direction?” I mumbled & muttered, trying to sound insightful; I may even have strung several complete sentences together before my rambling stopped. My friend was kind & said, “I guess I have some thinking to do.” I thought, “Yeah, me, too.”
