Today was such a great experience. There were so many positives & so much for which to give thanks.
* Charlie Evans, FLW President, was with us at 8am. He’s a classy guy; FLW is a classy organization.
* Andy put together a superb program to honor our 17 impressive graduating seniors -16 were present. Parents & grandparents, you are to be congratulated!
* Local guests came at all 3 services; Coffee Connections was crowded as usual (Joey Vantine said he spoke to the rotund statue at Connections before he realized it wasn’t me – funny man!); smiles & handshakes & hugs were abundant; Terry Laudett & family came from Tulsa (his blog is good); the downside to having simultaneous services is that I don’t get to hear Marshall’s sermon, but I already know it was terrific
* When Tom closes the 10:15 auditorium service with ‘The Greatest Command’ and folks join hands across the aisles and the singing shakes the rafters…..wow!
* After services, my Bible class met for lunch. I’m biased, but they are amazingly caring, generous & faithful. Larry asked, “How many are in our class?” I said, “We average 85.5 – .5 is Mackie!” He said, “We’re above average today.” He was right – over 100 ate & laughed & loved being together.
* I read Terry Rush’s blog as he spoke of days when each Sunday was a walk on egg-shells, of winching & waiting for scowls or complaints; he then told of the sweet spirit that prevails now. I’m so glad for him & the church.
* I thought of how blessed I am & I thought of brethren who must meet where joy struggles to take root. F. I. Stanley said, “Worship of God is to be enjoyed. We either enjoy it or endure it; what we’re made to endure, we won’t endure long.”
* I’m praying for us to have many more enjoyable days; I’m praying for others to experience enjoyable days, too.
Marshall’s sermon is now online. It was a good one! Now I get to go listen to yours!
