Hey everyone I hope you’re enjoying the summer weather, and have big plans for the memorial day weekend.
This Sunday we will have a combined class in the auditorium for everyone to get to know Joe James and his family. He has interviewed with the elders and staff, and this will be a chance for the rest of the church to get to know him. So we’ll be in the auditorium at 9:30.
Tuesday june 1st we will host one more TNT at the Brazle house which will be the last one before we take a break for the summer. We’ll start them back up in august. Don’t miss this one we’ll be presenting the medals from the Brazle Olympics.
Wed June 2nd make plans to come to the Annual Church Cookout from 6-8. The menu will be smoked hot dog, and chicken Ala King (because Ty King is fixing it) I know pretty corny right. Any way the food will be great and we’ll have lots of fun eating together.
From Wed-Sat we’ll be setting up for the Community Give Away. If you have small items or clothes that you’d like to donate please bring them to the church and sort them for the give away. We will need help Thurs and Friday to set up and sort all the items that come in. Sat morning we can use your help to guide people and help them to their cars. There are sign up sheets in the Foyer.
Sat afternoon June 5th after the Giveaway we’ll head to The Illinois river for our Annual Float trip. Cost is $20 plus money for one meal and a sack lunch. We will meet at the church at 11 and eat our lunches on the trip drive to Arrowhead Resort. We will float 6 miles and return home in the late evening.
Trek is coming up soon and I need to get the sign up sheet filled out. If you are a Sophomore Junior or Senior you can sign up for this trip. If you need more info before you sign up just give me a call and I’ll convince you to go. 685-2951. The date is June 25-July 3rd.
The sign up sheets for Float trip, Six Flags and Duluth are on the board so make sure you sign up the next time you are at the church building. Duluth is a seniority deal to so senior only for now.
Meeting for folks who love our Teens We are going to have a meeting next Sunday June the 6th for everyone that would like to hear more information about our plans to make improvements to our teen facilities. This meeting will be in the Family Life Center gymnasium Sunday June 6th right after the second service. The meeting will be brief, but full of information about our plans to update and improve the Family Life Center, and the ways you can help us. This meeting is for parents, grandparents, and friends. Everyone is invited to come and hear about our vision for this building.
If you read all the way through this whole message you get a hug from me next time you see me. Guaranteed

Andy

Camp out

// April 28th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Hey parents the teens are going on a campout thuis weekend and here are the details I promised.

Our Plan is to go over to the Buffalo National River and camp at either Kyles Landing, Steel Creek or the Ozark Campground. It will depend on what place has sites open. I will probably get over there early and save us some spots then come back for the kids. We’ll cook hotdogs that night and play some DYG’s then go to bed.

Sat we’ll get up and make some breakfast burritos for and break down our camp. Next we’ll hike to Whitaker point also known as hawks bill crag. Its a great hike to a cool spot that’s not too long but offers some great scenery.

The kids will need a sleeping bag and a pillow, a pad would be a good idea. They will also need a change of clothes and some shoes to hike in. mainly just something better than sandals. they’ll need to bring any toiletries they want and a towel and swimsuit for if we get in the River. If you have a sturdy tent with zippers that work and a rain fly you should throw it in, but if you dont have one that’s OK we’ll have plenty for everyone.

The trip will cost $15 and it’s for 7-12th graders. We are going to leave from Southside at 5:30 friday and Sat we will try to be back around 7:30pm.

I hope your kids can come it’s going to be fun

This Week

// April 6th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

Hey Gang I hope all of you had a great Easter weekend. Megan and I got to celebreate with my parents who are now her in-laws yesterday and then watch the awesome basketball game. It was one of the best finals I’ve ever seen. Gotta love it when basketball turns into football. It reminded me of some of our games of 21 in the FLC.
This Month we will head to Derrick and Denise Martin’s house for TNT their address is: 4606 Hillside Dr, Rogers, AR 72758. We will meet at their house at 6:30 if you drive on your own, but if you want a ride from Southside we’ll meet leave at 6:15. the devo will be over at 8 and we’ll be back at church at 8:20 We are going to continue to have time to discuss different topics that you bring to talk about. So think of topics to bring for us to discuss.
Wed night we will have our Waffles and Spaghetti classes. It’s week 8 so read your chapter and come ready to be enlightened about the sexes.
Saturday afternoon is our big Junior Senior banquet. Megan and I have some connections in Branson and so we are going to make a trip up there for the banquet. On the agenda: Go Carts at the Track for a few hours, Dinner at a nice place and tickets to the Sight and sound theatre. We are still nailing down times and order of events, and we’ll make a plan tonight at TNT with the Juniors and Seniors that are there. So I’ll let you know the final plan tomorrow in class and via facebook, and email.
Sunday we have a new worship format with services at 8:20 and 10:30 in the Auditorium. So choose the sleep-in in service or the super long afternoon service. I get to lead worship in both of those services so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll try not to mess it up too bad. Class will be at 9:30 so make sure you are there for that.
Sunday night is Sunday Night Live in Bentonville. We will leave Southside at 5:30 and return to Southside at about 8:45. We will stop at Braums for Ice Cream on the way home.
Now that the FLC building will no longer be used for a weekly worship service the teen ministry is going to have more flexibility in how we use the building. It will be a great asset to the ministry and we have some really cool ideas on how to make it a place you guys will enjoy and want to bring your friends. Please be thinking and praying about the best way to adapt our facility to reach the lost for Christ. It’s going to take some dreaming and work and sacrifice but in the end it will be even more awesome than it already is.

Hey Gang Megan and I are in the airport in Seattle headed home after spending the second half of spring break visiting my sister in Washington. We had to go to Canada and Ski at Whistler Blackcomb which pretty much the best wedding present ever. We woke up to a foot of fresh powder this morning it was pretty amazing so we’ll have time for more stories when we see you at TNT.
TNT will resume for one more week at the Carmical’s house this Tuesday. We started something new last week at the suggestion of our leadership crew and we are getting to have some really cool discussions about pretty much any topic you have a question about. So come to the church if you need a ride at 6:15 or meet us at the Carmical’s house at 6:30.
Wed night we will continue our study on the way God Designed Guys and gals differently. We’re looking at Chapter 7 this week so if you have a book read it and be ready to discuss the chapter.
LTC is this weekend so this will be our last chance to get things ready to go for Saturday. The Drama teams will practice after Bible study on wed night from 7:30-8:30.Get out your scripts and practice your lines. remember we have to have them memorized for when we perform. If we need to we’ll have an extra practice on Thursday evening too.
Should be a great Easter weekend. _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail: Trusted email with powerful SPAM protection. http://clk.atdmt.com/GBL/go/210850553/direct/01/

Well I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and feeling good about themselves I enjoyed eating more the past couple days than I have in quite a while. I guess enjoying your food more after you have fasted is another benefit to add to the list.
1) Remember if you fasted for Haiti we are collecting the money that we would have spent on food and giving it to the earthquake victims. Bring your $ to me by Sunday and I’ll make sure it goes to some folks who will stretch it as far as it can possibly go.
2) TNT is tonight at the Clark’s house at 6:30. We enjoy dinner and a fun Devotional with all 7-12th graders. If you need a ride we leave the church at 6:15 and return at 8:20.
3) Wednesday night we have our Guys are Waffles and Girls are Spaghetti classes at 6:30. Remember to read chapter three in the books that we gave out last week. If you didn’t get a book we have a few more left and you can get one tonight. If you helped with the babysitting on Saturday night then you earned $5 toward the purchase of your book. You can earn another $5 toward your book purchase if you help serve at the Wed night meal on March 3rd. If you can’t help with these projects please bring $10 to pay for your book.
4) This Sunday we are going to have our “Living Life Unveiled Challenge” poster all ready to go and we’ll get to start by marking off a few notches for all of you that fasted and brought money for Haiti. We are also going to ask for your commitments to this project. I’ll explain more on Sunday but for right now you can look through the list I gave you or come up with your own project idea. We will write your commitment on the poster/board to let us all see what each of us is commited to and then we can cheer each other on as we make progress toward our goal of 151 completed projects.
5) Christeens is the last weekend of the month: Feb26-28th.There will be Awesome Speakers Great Worship and a lot of fun for a whole weekend. The “Life Unveiled Challenge” Your teens have been given a list of 30 different things they can do to challenge themselves to grow in the next 90 days. The list is just for ideas and they can add their own ideas if they want to. Ask them about this and then encourage them to follow through.
